New Mobo Partial Boot???

Greetings! (I posted this in the Motherboard forum also....)

I just bought:

Intel D845PEBT2 Mobo
Intel 1.7Ghz proc
256meg PC2100 (333) ram..

Here is the problem:

Push power button, Single Beep. System POST locates Keyboard, Mouse and Video card (G4 MX440).

I have a Win98SE boot floppy in the drive, and the Win98SE full version CD in my CD drive. I have a formatted (Blank) Quantum Fireball HD as the Primary, on IDE channel 1, set as Master....

The floppy seems to start to read the disk, light goes out... Nothing...

Leaves a flashing cursor about four lines down from the top of the screen...

No DOS prompt, nothing...

Any ideas? This is making me insane!

check your IDE connection with the floppy
i once had it upside down
or check your settings at your bios
(e.g.boot from:floppy/cdrom/hd)
