System is in sig.

I had a storm the other day at the house and my pc was on. Needless to say the surge killed my router as well as my pc. I tested the power supply and it tests good so I think it's the motherboard. Just looking for general ideas on what you would do in this situation. I could get just a motherboard and put all my parts in it. One issue is my processor. When new it would easily got to 3.2GHz. Over the years it's slowly having issues and can only do around 2.8GHz or so stable. So, I was thinking to get a new mobo and cpu. I wouldn't be able to go latest and greatest unless I bought RAM though because mine is DDR2.

Unless there is an amazing bundle out there with mobo/cpu/RAM??

I would like to keep roughly these prices if I went with all new.
mobo - <150
cpu - <150
RAM - <75 for at least 4GB

Any opinions?

You can get a foxconn ELA p45 board for only $49.99 after $20 rebate plus shipping at newegg. It should have all the features you need if you're not overclocking. I look at foxconn boxes all day at dell where I work. They make alot of components for them. In your case, I would go ahead and get a new power supply and use the old one for a spare. Newegg has an ocz for $29.99 after rebate which ends tonight, part of their 48 hour sale.

thanks for the replies.

Is the Q9550 @ microcenter a local deal or online? I searched Q9550 on their site and had no results.

In store only, as are all of MicroCenter's cpu specials.

but, don't discount Newegg.......Foxconn Black OPS X48 motherboard for $89.99 AR ($119.99 before rebate). Of course, Newegg's cpu prices are robbery, but only if you have a MicroCenter nearby....otherwise, you're kinda stuck.

And a $29 OCZ power supply? That made me laugh.....rather run my computer by hamster power than trust hundreds of $$ in computer electronics to a POS like that $29 OCZ ripple/noise generator. Why people try to cheap out on one of the most important pieces of a computer, I'll never understand.
