New mobo = new Windows install?

First of all, my current system is as follows:

A8NE Nforce 4 motherboard
Athlon 3700+ San Diego
2gb RAM
8800 GT
SB Audigy LS
1x200gb internal SATA HDD
1x300gb external USB HDD

I'm thinking of upgrading my mobo/processor/RAM because that part of my setup is getting a bit aged at this point (new games are horribly limited by CPU now). Would I have to do a reinstall of windows upon installing the new hardware? I just reformatted my hard drive, so it wouldn't be a huge problem, but a hassle I'd like to avoid.

I recently moved my desktop XP Professional install from it's five-year-old motherboard to a new Core2Duo board. Both were on Intel chipsets, but of much-different generations.

The move was without incident. I just changed the Windows disk controller setting to the generic Intel IDE controller, shut down XP, and then moved the hard drive to the new motherboard.

You'll have three days to re-Activate Windows.

Oh, and I forgot the part about having my Windows Home Server backups of the entire original system, plus multiple copies of my documents on various servers and backup disks. Just in case.

A Windows "Repair Install" should also work, but it's more time-consuming. You shouldn't lose any data and shouldn't have to re-install your applications. You'll be required to re-Activate and will need to install all Service Packs and Updates that aren't on your Windows XP Install CD.
