So today I bought a new Asrock extreme 4 z77 motherboard, my previous build was aging and i really wanted to go intel this time. but before I decided to rip into my system and install all this stuff i had a few questions.

My previous build goes as follows

phenom II B55 at 3.4 ghz
corsair h100
seagate 500gb hd
6GB pny 1600 ddr3
2X XFX 6850 crossfire
windows 7 home premium 64 bit

my new build will include everything the previous build had but obviously the RAM, Mobo and CPU. i already contacted windows about my OEM copy and got permission to use it again. but if i have to i can buy a new copy. just want to save a few bucks if i can.

this is what i was wondering, since i am going from AMD to Intel, will i need to remove all my AMD cpu/chipset drivers off my hard drive before i install the new MOBO cpu combo?

and also if i do how will i go about doing that? should i just wipe the Hard drive and just reinstall windows and stuff? im still kind of a noob to this stuff. any help would be appreciated.

Probably best to do a clean install, windows can do this when you go thru the setup...just delete the partition and re-create....

If you format and reinstall Windows you will lose everything on that drive and start from scratch, so I don't see how you can say "just have to" reinstall windows. When you reinstall Windows, you will need to reinstall everything. What else do you think you would have to do?

I understand this, However I do not have anything on this drive but steam games, so starting from scratch really Isn't that big of a deal to me. Yes if i had important things on this computer It would make me angry that I have to start from scratch, but that is not the case. This is why I said "just have to".

What I am getting at here is that after I install said components, I do first boot(fingers crossed) and spam the bios key w/e that might be on an extreme 4, im assuming delete, and choose boot from disk. delete the previous partition, and reinstall.

^^^ Yes

Just pick the advanced install option delete all partitions then just install. Windows will take care of the rest.
