New mobo, cpu,hd etc... Old XP work?

Hopefully that title made since. I am in the process of updating my motherboard, CPU, hard drive, video card and basically everything other the case, cd and floppy drives and was curious how much trouble I will have with installing a previously registered copy of Windows XP on the system. I haven't preformed a rebuild in the nearly two years I've had xp installed and was a lil lazy about moving from 98se in the first place because of the registration issues. Basically I'm curious if I can get away without having to buy another dang xp disk because essentially it will be getting installed on a new system other than a drive or two and the box. I'm sure many of you all have been through this several times so any help is appreciated.

As long as your copy of XP is not an OEM one you should have no problem, you may need to phone the activation line (free), but hopefully not

Actually, the changed MB probably affected enough items in the recorded system identifier, that reactivation is likely just for that much of these changes. The MB comes with an extensive list of "system devices" and the algorithm that creates an identifier for each PC looks at several of those particular "devices". That aspect is why I've seen suggestions for XP users to tell the OS that they are installing to a laptop, which means that one or more external docking stations are a potential, and the identifier would be changing constantly with every single dock/undock action. Thus, a list of potentially changing hardware items reduces the number of those available to use in the identifier code.
