I am planning to upgrade from a 1.4 Tbird to the 2500+ barton with the a7n8x. i am using an antec 300w psu. i was wondering if that psu would be enough to power the new system? i won't be doing any hardcore OCing. also, would it be wise to buy now? or wait till next month? thanks for the help!

I personally would switch brands to a Fortron/Sparkle [as I've had voltage stability issues with my Antec 350w]. And I'd go at least 350w output. Probably higher if you have a high-end video card and a lot of devices to run (more than 1 hdd and cd-rom, lots of cards).

It'll handle it as long as you don't have a bunch of lights and other Hardware. I have a 250wt running a Barton on one of my Rigs and it's Stable nuff to run with the other Ponies ;)

Psycho, your 300w Antec was plenty for an Athlon Tbird at 1.4ghz, but I highly doubt it will be enough for a Barton, especially if you ever plan on overclocking any. You can find quite a few psu's today, online, for not much $$$. Why not just get a big enough psu to power the system you're going to build now and your next system, so you will be dividing the cost of it by 2? I think the Antec TruePower series are the best for the money, personally.

You'll be fine, no need to upgrade unless you enjoy spending money. :)
