I've been disappointed by all but one of the PC gaming magazines I subscribed to shutting down. Of two MMO magaznes, only Becket is still in business.

At the Sony Fan Faire, I met the head of a new MMO magazine, Massive Gamer. I met a couple of the staff as well. The CEO is a long-time MMO gamer.

They seem like nice people, and I liked what I saw. The pilot issue of the magazine is quite big, 88 pages of mostly text with almost no ads. It's monthly.

It seems like a small operation, the kind where someone who knows magazines borrows startup money from a friend and is publishing.

They said they don't want the magazine to be WoW dominated, though they'll cover it. The first issue's cover and a number of stories are about Age of Conan.

Here's a link if you want to see more info and subscribe:

I told them I'd post a thread here, because I like to see a magazine like this do ok.

Most Electronic entertainment magazines are slowly dying. Their content has moved to the Internet, where its free and available much much quicker than a printed magazine.

Yeah, I've decided not to subscribe to the game mags anymore. What few are left. (I'm still keeping MaximumPC but its not a game mag even though they do some game reviews) In today's world they are becoming obsolete. The Net has better info and faster now. Also I prefer to watch a video review rather than read it text wise.

How's this work, you get the first issue for $40, and then pay $15 every month after that?

Most print EVERYTHING is dying. Not much point in it when you have the net. At the least they have to do both- put out a magazine and maintain a website.
