New Mini = Poor wireless performance?

On all my laptops (PC) i can roam the house and have no problem with signal or performance. On my new mini, I cant play a video thru my network or internet without it stopping. Also it seems downloads get bogged down and I have to restart. Wired does not have this problem.

I am using a Linksys WAP54G access point with WPA personal security. Would I need to upgrade to an apple airport wirelss access point?

Shouldn't need to, I had my Mini hooked up via Wifi to a Linksys WRT54G for the whole year that I owned it without issues..

If you are closer to the AP do you get better performance?

You shouldn't have to no. Chances are the signal where your mini sits is bad. Can you move the mini away for a while just for testing purposes?

I have never had good luck with Macs and Linksys, but it is usually a problem where they just straight up won't connect. I would try moving either the mini or the router. If you can place the router where the mini is and hard wire it then that is probably your best bet anyway.

I moved it closer and it seem ok now. Why is the mini so weak picking up signals. My outdated laptops pickup anywhere in the house nice any strong. Could I have somthing wrong with my antenna or are these just weak?

i had intermittent wireless issues on both Mini's i owned, to the point i eventually just used a wireless bridge.

It might be the aluminum body of the machine, although the top is plastic and I think that the antenna are supposed to be located there for best results, but who knows. If the location of the router or Mini is not vibing with your house, then you might want to consider getting a USB wireless card, preferrably one with an external antenna.

I bought a refurbd mini for my son at Christmas, his gets signal very well in the same room his Xbox 360 wireless adapter struggled
