Ended up noticing my 4+old computer could barely handle Warhammer. I was trying to wait for Starcraft 2 but its time to bite the bullet. I'm not a hardcore PC gamer but I needed something better. Check out the setup I plan to get. If you think you see something thats wrong or could be improved some let me know. I am considering putting Vista 64 on this. ..possibly a dual boot with XP x32.

Processor:
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600

Heatsink:
Xigmatek HDT-S1283 120mm
Plan to do slight over clocking after I get system up and running

Mobo:
Gigabyte GA-EP45-DS3L LGA Intel 775

RAM:
G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1000 (PC2 8000)

Video Card:
Palit XAE 4850
Was considering Asus (same price) but Palit seems to have a better cooling system.

Power Supply:
Antec NeoPower 650W
Wanted something modular

HDD:
Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD6400AAKS 640GB 7200 RPM SATA Drive

Case: My old Antec P-160

So a gaming computer, but you're getting a quad. Get a E8400 and overclock it! DDR2-800 is fine for ram especially if you're not overclocking. I'm using the DDR2-800 and overclocked it.

I was originally thinking about going with teh Core 2 Duo E8400 but for some reason I choose the Quad 6600.

As for RAM, I was going originally to go with DDR2-800 but the DDR 1000 was only $7 more. I plan to try to do a little overclocking. This will be my first experience with it.

Gaming = dual core. Simple as that.

Everything else looks good, though I'd get the Corsair 520HX over the Antec PSU.

Was thinking about changing to this Asus Mobomobo. Reason I am switching is b/c its the same price as the Gigabit mobo with Newegg's processor/mobo combo.

Depending on your budget, you may want to just take a look at some geforce gtx260's or even a 4870. I know the gtx 260's are around 250 dollars now and overclock very well (plus they have great stock cooling).

Anyways just a heads up, because I had just built a pc as well and ended up returning my 4850 for a gtx260
