New mid range gaming machine build

I am building a new machine for gaming purpose. I only play MMORPG, games I am currently playing are Atlantica Online, Perfect world international, Allods. looking forward to play Star Wars: The Old Republic and Final Fantasy XIV. so, my guess is I really do not need the best video card on the market. I have bought most of the parts already, but I need some help to pick the rest of the parts, mainly video card and mother board. I have no plan to over clock any anything, so the only requirement for the mother board is reliability. I want a video card to support 1920x1080, HD is not really required if I have to pay a lot more for that. Any recommendation for the motherboard and video card are appreciated. opinion for the parts I already bough is also welcome.

thanks

Parts I already bought:
Antec 300D
Antec EA-500D PSU
AMD X6 1055T CPU
Corsair XMS 3 1333Mhz 4GB (2x2GB) kit
Seagate 7200.11 1.5GB SATA HD
Sony Optiarc CD/DVD Burner
DELL ST2310 23-inch Full HD Widescreen Monitor

Need recommendation:
Mother Board
Video Card.

Segate 7200.11 is not recommended. It has been plagued by firmware issues and drives failing after a few months.

WD or Samsung are good alternatives to consider.

Also, you did not specify your budget. How much are you willing to spend for MoBo+video card??

I realized Segate may not be a good choice for main drive, so I most likely will used it as second drive and buy a WD as main drive.

I do not really have a budget, basically I can afford any mother board and video card on the market easily. but I am kind of buy what I need not what I want person. so I need help to figure out what I really need now.

Since, you don't care about the budget I suggest adding an SSD into the mix as a boot drive. SSD greatly improves your experience in MMORPG's. This SSD seems to be the best bang for buck right now.

MoBo : Gigabyte 890GX USB 3.0 and Sata 6Gb/s - $139
Save $15 with promo code EMCYSZR45, ends 5/20

Video : ATI 5850 -$310

He could probably do his gaming on a 5770. No real need to spend on a 5850 for MMO's.

Not sure I'd justify spending on an SSD, but hell, it's a fat upgrade. Could just wait for the refresh and then pick one up then.

Gigabyte mainboards are pretty damn good... though I just got the Fry's deal http://slickdeals.net/forums/showthread.php?sduid=265310&t=2025946 AMD x6 1055 with a MSI 890GX uATX board and its pretty good too at $218.
GPU: is a tough one... lots of choices from AMD 5830, 5850, 5770 if you get a 5770, you could squeeze in a OCZ 60GB agility for $150 (which I have and they're awesome) 60GB is very much enough space for OS and multiple games installed.

SSD is fast, yes, but HDD can do gaming just as well. I wouldn't take up extremely valuable space with game apps, but fill it with office apps, general usage programs, etc. instead. Maybe one or two games if you have space 🙂, but everything else should go on your fastest HDD.

I agree. But not all games are created equal. MMORPG's are HDD depended as these games frequently access HDD to load textures and maps(quite apparent during raids). SSD's, although decreasing in prices, are still expensive for normal consumers and since OP has a lot of cash to spend recommending an SSD makes sense.

If OP can wait for 4-5 months he can hold off pulling the trigger on SSD right now for the upcoming refresh which promise faster and cheaper storage drives.

For WoW, I would agree, but the newer titles are all DX11 with much better graphics. My bet is that they can use a 5850.

Also, yes to the SSD, they shine in most MMOs.

By design MMOs don't use bleeding edge graphics. 5770 would be adequate. 5850 would allow full details/effects even in high population envirnoments for the next 2-3 years worth of MMOs, I'm guessing. And playable with slight decrease in details for 4-5.

How often do you upgrade and buy new toys? If you are type who gets new stuff every 2-3 years anyways, then get the 5770. If you eek every last second out of your hardware that you can, I would recommend the 5850.

Also, get an aftermarket CPU cooler so you can overclock those 6 cores of goodness.

think this is what I am going to do:

SAMSUNG Spinpoint F3 1T hard drive
5770 video
890GX mother board.

what your guys think? and any specific model for video card and MoBo?

Excellent choices.

I would go with a Sapphire Vapor X for the 5770 model http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102868&Tpk=5770%20vapor-x

And a Gigabyte MoBo http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128435&cm_re=890gx-_-13-128-435-_-Product (board can be cheaper but you'd have to mATX).

I have to advise you that SSD drives make, at least in my experience, a hugely significant difference in MMOs and substantially less difference in FPS or RTS. This is because load times are so considerable (and frequently dealt with) in MMOs. Just something to consider. You can wait for new drives, but you can do that pretty much forever. OCZ and Kingsotn make nice, cheap SSDs that perform well, so it's something to consider.
