Meh. Radio station played it like 4 times in a row, with a bunch of tools calling in between spewing their guts about how awesome it was an they love Metallica.

I mean, I like Metallica too, but this song was mediocre at best (especially compared to anything prior up to the black album)...and James grunting and/or singing "yayeyAH" at the end of every phrase just irritates me.

wasn't too impressed with it at ozzfest...overall, their set kicked ass though...still hard to believe that Ozz played before them at his own festival...

It sounds like they're trying to recapture the feeling from the Unforgiven. It's too bad Lars has forgotten how to play the drums. And that Hetfield has forgotten how to sing. One good thing about it is that it is better than any song off of St. Anger. At least there is a solo...

sounds like something from the black album era. i'm in the middle of the song, sounds like it has potential.

I only own their first 5 LPs, anything since then is pretty bad. Btw, when did they get rid of Newstead?

He quit the band awhile back. He got frustrated with their lack of interest in really rocking anymore and got more interested in Echobrain, a side project he was working on. James got mad about that, so he bailed.

Also, this new song is way better than anything off St. Anger (it actually has a melody and harmonies that fit together), but it seems unfinished.

Looking at the song list on the new album, there's a The Unforgiven III -- interesting...

Wow I can't wait to torrent this song. :)

EDIT: After actually listening to the song, I'll go against most of the responses in this thread so far, and say that it doesn't sound too bad. The song sounds somewhat unfinished though for some reason.

With a decent producer/production Cyanide could rock pretty good. The other two are just...meh.

James needs to fall off the bandwagon and get on the sauce. His balls shriveled up and he grew a vagina.

Sounds like a basic hard rock song, until the end, where it starts kicking some ass.

Hetfield's voice is gone. Not much growl left.

And I'm glad to hear that awful snare from St Anger is gone....hopefully it got burned.

They're just too over-the-hill at this point. I was a die hard Metallica fan back in the day but man.. they're nothing but disappointing these days.

It's like seeing Superman reduced to doing infomercials.

It's very 'Load'.

Which isn't nessesarily a bad thing.

St. Anger would be a number of times better if they went and remixed it with a legitimate bass track and redone drums. There are a few songs in there that really pound...they just have no meat to them. Frantic and Dirty Window are two very energetic songs along with the power of "Some Kind of Monster" that are just weak shells of what they could be.

The accompanying DVD with the album was mixed a lot more "full" and was considerably better than the studio cut album.

No shit.

You'd think Lars could afford a real snare, and not have to use a dust bin lid.
