I'm confused about all the CPU questions, seeing as this is VC&G.

Unfortunately your post served no better a purpose as well, it too is off-topic and thread-derail.

In the future if you want to contribute to the community the best action you can take is to report the posts in question to the moderators and keep your commentary off the public screen.

OK, real question. Why did AMD market the FX 9590 as a 5GHZ chip, when it is only a 4.7ghz chip? That is false advertisement, or at the very least a sort of "bait and switch".

http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product...82E16819113347

False advertisement not found...says 4.7ghz there.

Public Service Announcement - do not ask off-topic questions or respond to off-topic questions as you are merely perpetuating a thread-derail.

This thread is about VC&G, not about employment, business practices, the temperature of the water in the office watercooler, the color of paint on the walls, etc.

Way to be a dick.

Personal attacks are not acceptable. Report a post if it bothers you, responding as you did is completely inappropriate.

Welcome Sam... not sure you know what your getting yourself into though...
AT has some of those aforementioned 'crazy person out of jail or something' trolls / fanboys that love to spread the BS thick.

Hey Sam, welcome to the forums. It's good to have a rep from AMD here that actually makes himself known. Thank you sir.
I'd like to know where I can speak with you about AMD's advocacy program. Via PM? Another thread in another forum? Etc. Let me know. I hope you enjoy the forums.

Re: Sam's previous thread(s).

We had to bin it before, as at that time Sam hadn't yet completed his coordination with the AT moderating crew. You know, we have to do stuff first like confirm his status with his boss so we are all sure that he is exactly who he purports to be and who he purports to work for, etc, and that he knows our rules and such.

It took a while to make it happen (not on their end, though, I think his boss was easy enough to coordinate with and told us Sam was legit, and not some crazy person out of jail or something; but alas, since we are all volunteer mods, some things just get lost through the cracks sometimes, balls get dropped, etc), but now that he's finally cleared and oriented, he's back and so another thread (this time, all official and approved) is created.

Anyway, let the cleverly-veiled questions continue

Good open post

Do you have evidence of AMD reps posting on these forums in the past WITHOUT making themselves known? If so, do tell. Don't hold back. Names, evidence, anything goes.

Why so clandestine? Just say what you've got to say. This is actually more of an accusation than a question with the way you've posed it.

"It's good to have a rep from AMD here that actually makes himself known."

"I'd like to know where I can speak with you about AMD's advocacy program. Via PM? Another thread in another forum?"

He said he was here to answer questions. Ask away.

It is amazing the AMD reps make themselves known, the Nvidia reps never felt any such compunction until they were forced to by the mods (or became mods).

Hilarious, really.

I hope we can try and stick to the topic, it's nice to have a company rep willing to take questions and clarify things. Report posts you feel are over the line, don't respond to them it just perpetuates the trolling.

I have a couple of questions. Was VI ever considered for the 20nm node? Will VI be manufactured elsewhere besides TSMC? Also is sideport ever coming back? I'm kidding on the last one, or am I....

Why so you can have a report fest on my account? Heh, no thanks buddy.

Keys, knock it off with the thread-derail.

OK folks, your friendly neighborhood Administrator here, we've gone through and restored all the silly off-topic posts and appended mod-comments where appropriate.

This is your collective first-and-only community wide warning. Following the timestamp on this post, any new posts added to this thread which are posted to ask about anything related to CPUs, business practices, commuting experiences, etc will be met with swift and immediate infractions or vacations as needed.

This thread is in the VC&G subforum because the purpose is to discuss Video Cards and Graphics.

CPU-related questions go in the CPU forum. Business practices questions go in the off-topic forum or by pm. Responses to derails and off-topic questions are just as bad and won't be tolerated either.

It isn't rocket science and we aren't going to explain this a second time.

Welcome. I have heard new GPUs are on the horizon, and I know this because I see prices going down on existing AMD GPUs. How low can they (specifically 7950 Boost) go, and is this a good time to buy now, to scoop up existing / older tech for cheap? I'm afraid the the new cards are going to be MSRP plus some at introduction. I remember some past new card releases, and if you didn't mind losing some newer features, it was prudent to buy the last-gen cards at a discount for as long as they were still available.

Welcome to the forums Sam. Great to have an actual AMD rep on here!

Look forward to any info you can give us on the upcoming new video cards.

Hey, I have what I think is a legitimate question. Before the whole issue about framepacing, frametimes, etc., came to light and the AMD driver team had to focus on that, there was talk about a memory controller rewrite for 7000 series cards. Is that still happening, and if so is there any estimate on when it will be released in a driver update? Or was it already released and we just didn't notice it?
