Hi Everyone!

Nice to e-meet you…

My name is Sam. I’m AMD’s newest Community Manager. I’ve been with the company for about a month now, I’m in the Enthusiast and Component Channel Communications team.

A little more about me:

I’m a gamer. Been playing games for a long, long time now; my first game that got me addicted to gaming was Wolfenstein 3D. Currently, I’m playing in the Word of Warplanes open beta – and I’m hooked ;-)

Professionally, I’ve been in the gaming industry for more than a decade, where I’ve worked in product and brand management on various titles (PC and Platforms), including: Tomb Raider, Just Cause, 25 To Life, Rift and Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures.

In the early 90s I build my first computer, which was based on an 80286 processor, experimented with BBSes and learned good old DOS 3.0 (remember?) From there, I continued to build my own rigs, went through all types of processors, while playing games, and in college I managed to build a CPU all on my own (complete with an ALU, Memory stack, I/O, and LED display – a lot has changed since then, but it gave me a great taste for computer engineering).

My passion is gaming and hardware, and to be perfectly honest with you I’m not a hardware expert as some of you are. So I hope to learn from you while doing my best in answering your questions and if I don’t have an answer, I will tap into the experts at work for you – but please keep in mind I’m under NDA, therefore I won’t be able to expand or provide you additional information on undisclosed products and services. I hope you understand…

Happy to be here…:)

Mod Message:

Folks this thread is in the VC&G forum because it is supposed to be about Video Cards and Graphics.

This thread here in VC&G is NOT about CPUs, games, AMD marketing initiatives, or other aspects of how AMD conducts business.

Stay on topic.

So is AM3+ dead or will it get another processor after Piledriver?

What gains are we going to see from steamroller?

Wrong forum.

Public Service Announcement - do not ask about CPUs here, it is off-topic and a thread-derail. This thread is about VC&G.

Hi Sam. Appreciate you being available on here. When the 7000 series launched AT and other sites reported that AMD would be expanding its driver development team. With the recent introduction of frame pacing technology into 13.8 Beta there has clearly been an increase in activity, but is the originally-announced expansion now 'complete' or is further intensification of the driver development work still foreseen for the future?

Welcome, Sam!

Could I ask you to check out these forums in depth, and perhaps reply to some of the questions people have been asking? I wouldn't mind some input for my two latest threads, either :)

Only confirmed that he likes the number 28 :D

Ofcourse thats what he was saying.. =) I wonder if he thinks the Titanic sunk from 1 big iceberg or 2 smaller ones and if it was a big one are we talking 500 pound gorilla big or 380ish ? Maybe the Titanic didn't sink from the iceberg(s) alone but was also hit from never settling winds that blew tilting ship over?

I would be interested to know if the ship was 512 cubits wide or 384. ANd if there were 2560 passengers or maybe even more.

I'm interested to know if the Titanic's 48 waterproof chambers were worthwhile or if 32 would have been more effective for the price.

LOL - I'm starting to think of the Queen Mary and how it didn't hit anything (iirc)...;)
