New MD player defective?!

My MZ-N510CK arrived yesterday and i got down to business. The first MD was burnt flawlessly. But while burning the 2nd song of the 2nd disk, SonicStage gave me an encryption error and stopped.

I reconnected the device, and it once again burned 1.5 songs and stopped. Switched USB ports - same story.

So i used Nero to create an .nrg image of my songs and mounted it using Nero ImageDrive. Then used SimpleBurner to copy. Same story!

What's wrong here? Is the player defective? Is it the software?

Meaning?

Meaning you don't "burn" MiniDiscs

EDIT: Let me rephrase that. You can "burn" them, but you might check the rate in which they are going to the minidisc. It may be too fast for the USB to handle.

i take it you've tried different media... and you aren't using the same source each time (ie, using different mp3's and what not to make sure you don't have a corrupted mp3)?

also, have you done real time thru the line in (i can't remember if these newer models have line in anymore or just purely netMD)? try that and see.

if all else fails, uninstall and reinstall... something w/ sony's stupid copyright protection could be jacked up... or try it on another computer if you can.

edit:
technically, aren't you "burning" a disc? i mean, it does use a laser. it's optial media.. same idea 😉 and i doubt it's filling up the usb bandwidth, sony's high speed claims are all bunk, especially if he's converting and transfering.. then it'll never fill it up
