New MB Showing Crazy Fan Speeds - Help!!

I just bought an Asus A7N266-C motherboard w/ an XP1800. After hooking everything up, and turning the system on, I'm able to get into the BIOS. Under Hardware Monitoring, my CPU fan and Power Supply fan are displayed but obviously something isn't right. They both first show "NA," then they will flash through about 4 different fan speeds, from 2,700 to 35,000, then back to "NA." Anyone have any experience with this? Could it be a bad power supply, or short in the motherboard?

it happen all the time. Some fan just give the sensor a hard time (or the other way around) Get another case fan.

Its not the case fan. Both the CPU fan and power supply fan are giving erroneous numbers. I took the motherboard out and hooked up only a video card and a different 350-watt Antec power supply, and it still was screwed up. I called Asus and they think it might be a defective hardware monitoring chip. Anyone else ever have a problem with this?

fan, case fan. Same.
PS use 80mm fan, case mostly use 80mm, some of the CPU HSF use 80mm also.

my EPOX hang when the it can not monitor the HSF speed correctly. It will hang at boot up or in BIOS and definitely in the monitor screen of BIOS after 3-5 sec. I change another 80mm fan to it. No problem then.

It may be just your board or the whole line is sensible to this problem. May be someone has this board can give you answer.
