Ecs N2U400-A and AMD Barton 25000+

Computer turns on, everything spins, power supply on, just no video signal NOTHING coming up on monitor!

I just got this deal today and having some problems. First off, i'm running some ddr 2100 for now because i'm planning to upgrade that later. I'm basically moving what I have from my old setup (memory, harddrive, vid card) to this new motherboard and cpu.

Now, right now I put the Barton in my old motherboard ( Asus A7V8x-x ) and it's running fine except my memory is holding me back. So I know that the cpu is fine, same with the memory (Kingston ValueRam 2100 with Nanya chips). They all work with the A7V8X-X. Since I've been using this setup for quite awhile and decided to move up to a budget Nvidia board and upgrade slowly from there. Here's the list of parts going into this ECS board...

Barton 2500+
Ecs N2U400 A
DDR 2100
Enermax 350 power supply
Ati Radeon 8500

There is this one problem I've always had to deal with and it's my computer case. Especially for the agp slot. Sometimes it just seems like it's not going in all the way, if u know what i mean. Also, when I first looked at the motherboard, there's this one cap right by the last dimm slot that looks a little bent. When all the other capacitors are perfectly straight. Didn't really worry bout it since I thought that would be normal. I don't know what else could be wrong, but all this motherboard swapping, reapplying paste, really starting to bug me! That's why I came here possibly to get some advice from u guys. Anything would be much appreciated! If I left something out tell me please!

If all this doesn't make sense, sorry i'm just really tired!

One more thing! I tried booting with a pci vid card and same result.

i acutally just bought the same combo and i have the exact same problem. My friend who also just bought that combo also has the same problem.

one thing you shoudl know though, i think that the ncu400-a only can use 2700 and up ram.

if u find a solution to this problem i would like to know also

I would set up the mobo outside your case, on top of the box it came in. Then you'll know if you have an alignment problem with the standoffs on your case. Use just the cpu/heatsink, one stick of memory, and the video card (which you can let hang over the edge of the box. Be sure to connect the atx 20 pin connector and power switch lead.

WOW!! I feel so dumb! It was the ATX 12V I forgot to plug from my Enermax. Man, I've only worked with Via KT266 and KT400 boards, didn't even know it existed! Went thru all this hell! At first I thought "I don't need to plug anything there" but now ding ding! Learning experience though! Much thx for the replies, didn't know if I would get any. So, yeah thx o1die! alee25, check if your ATX 12v is plugged in! :D Again THANKS!

Glad to see the problem "fixed," heh. Another potential problem is the clear CMOS jumper. Some board manufacturers (PCChips is one, and they're the same company as ECS) ship the board with it jumpered to "clear."

... to save battery life until the boards actually get put into use. And the manual warns to set that jumper to Normal. Three times. ;)

Yes, I tried the CMOS switch couple times before I got the system running. Then came here and realized it was something else. Some stuff weren't getting power because I didn't have the 12V plugged in DOH! This CMOS has come in handy especially overclocking too high or just when the post up screen does not show.

Heh, Posting from mine that I bought last Sunday from Fry's...Went to 3200+ straight out of the box. 20% overclock, 100% stable, 50% cost..Not bad I may say.:D

Sorry to bring this topic back up but I have one more question. It's about the capacitor next to my last dimm slot that seems to be bent, while others are flushed down on the motherboard. I know i'm probably being a little too paranoid. I would like to know that this is okay, so I don't have to worry about it later :)

If it works fine now, It should work fine later as long as you don't knock it off or something. I think the bad cap problem from a while back has been resolved.
