I've been looking for a new MB that's raid, DDR and socket 370, this certainly looks like it might be a contender. Just announced on Thursday...
--------------------------------------------
Taipei, Taiwan, R.O.C. 31 May 2001? ABIT is proud to announce the launch of the VR6 and VR6-RAID. This newest Pentium®III-based motherboard is based on VIA?s Apollo Pro 266T and VT8233 Chipsets. The VR6 and VR6-RAID are ATX form-factor mainboards designed for use with all current and future Pentium III Socket processors (based on 100/133Mhz) and Intel Celeron® socket processors (66/100MHz). It supports all normal industry standard functions, including Advanced Configuration and Power Management Interface (ACPI), AGP 2X(3.3V)/4X(1.5V) and 200/266 Mhz (100Mhz/133Mhz Double Data Rate) memory bus settings. The VR6 and VR6-RAID feature three 184-pin DIMM sockets supporting PC1600/PC2100 DDR SDRAM modules up to a maximum of 3GB.
ULTRA DMA 100/RAID
The VR6-RAID includes VIA?s VT8233 chipset for Ultra DMA 33/66/100 IDE support. The onboard High Point HPT370 IDE controller provides a 100 MB/sec data transfer rate for three system-enhancing modes. RAID 0 (striping) splits data across multiple drives increasing writing and reading performance. RAID 1 (mirroring) duplicates data creating an instant backup and improving reading performance. RAID 0 + 1 (striping and mirroring) combines the two for enhanced performance and safety.
SoftMenu? III
Only ABIT has Soft Menu?, and on the VR6-RAID, you will find ABIT?s unique SoftMenu? III. SoftMenu? III has special added features and functions that will allow the maximum performance and enhancement tweaks specifically for Intel-based CPUs, such as FSB settings from 100MHz to 166MHz in increments of 1 (84 settings). Moreover, ABIT has added CPU Multiplier Factor Adjustments, allowing the user to choose the proper multiplier factor*. The System BIOS features and supports Award Plug and Play BIOS and Write-Protect Anti-Virus function by AWARD BIOS.
Other Features
The VR6 supports up four Ultra DMA 33/66/100 devices through its two Bus Master IDE channels. The VR6-RAID supports an additional four Ultra DMA 33/66/100 devices through its two Bus Master IDE channels (RAID 0/1/0+1) for a total of eight IDE devices. In addition to the normal serial and parallel ports the VR6 has an onboard USB header for four extra USB channels. ABIT?s VR6 also sports 1 AGP slot and 6 PCI slots to meet all your peripheral needs. Built in hardware monitors Fan speed, voltages and system environment temperatures. Other features include Built-in Wake on LAN and Ring headers, and a built-in IrDA TX/RX header. CPU temperature monitoring is performed by a thermistor located directly below the processor.
