I don't see any differences in this car with any other Miata.

no soft top. looks like a coupe with the top up and a convertible with it down. plus it should be stiffer, safer, and quieter than the soft top. there should be more head room as well.

Look up. I mean I'm not trying to discredit the car. They are nice, just not my style, but it's weird how they've never really redesigned the body and people still get a super hardon over them.

So, what do you get a super hardon over? Not that we really care, but since you brought it up in your thread crap I thought I'd ask.

Man. S2000 for the win. Do you people really like how it looks? Looks pretty... bleh...

I think it looks great. I do think the Honda S2000 looks better and is a much hotter car but it costs $10k more.

Awesome, just awesome. I was really considering buying a Miata, but it's too impractical to use as an only car. Perhaps one day I'll have one just for the sunny summer days.

Nice! But Mazda needs to improve the MX-5...

1) Make the MazdaSpeed suspension the standard suspension on the Sport model along with Limited Slip Diff.
2) Give the Sport model the 5-speed tranny instead of the 6.
3) Offer HIDs and Heated Seats as an option on ALL models...along with the Bose/6CD System.
4) Remove the door-mounted cup holders.

Great addition, but boring car. 🙁 I wonder if it's better on a roadcourse than the autox.

Miata...boring? What planet are you from?

It is. It's well balanced, that's definitely true. However, the limits are soooooooo low. They did this on purpose. They made the limits both in lateral grip and straight line very low so that they're accessable to everyone. Because of this, the car gets boring very very quickly. Sure, it's nice to rent for a weekend, but owning it for more than that would get boring in a hurry.

Heck, even after a full day at the Mazda Zoom-Zoom event it got boring. Even the underpowered RX8 was more fun.

Don't get me wrong. It has a certain charm in that exploring the edges of its performance envelop is doable on a daily basis. It's also great that they balance handling and straight line so well (most cars are heavily biased one direction or another). However, it's like a 600mhz Celeron with 256mb of memory. Sure, processor and memory are matched, but it's kinda slow all around.

Add better tires and stiffin it up a little and that comment goes out the wayside.

With the miata community having a huge aftermarket for that stuff ding ding we have a winner.

Better tires, better shocks, better springs, better strut tower bars, better sway bars, and better bushings. Then, add either turbocharger, supercharger, or an SBC or mustang engine. What do you have? A much nicer car that still has too much weight in the front. 😀
😕
WTF are you talking about? The higher package miatas already come with blistien shocks, 4 wheel double wishbone suspension(only found on high performance sports cars), torsen limited slip differential. Not to mention the perfect 50/50 weight distribution and small light-weight body, with RWD - making it one of the best handling cars out there ever made. It's a very fun car to drive. It's easy to handle. Easy to oversteer.
The only downside is that it lacks oomph. So the only thing it really needs is a supercharger/turbocharger, which the engine is clearly built for one. Everything else is near perfect as it is. You could get the mazdaspeed version if you want a turbo.
