New manifolds are on, so quiet now

My titan had the infamous cracked exhaust manifolds and I didn't want to go with headers just yet, so I picked up an inexpensive set of manifolds online and finally got the last one on today. Its so quiet, I love it. When you gas it, you hear the throaty growl of the 5.6 liter engine and none of the tick tick tick noise of a leaky exhaust. YEHAW!!!

I once had a mini van with a Quarter sized hole in the manifold. Wow was that thing loud. It was great fun to mess with people on the side of the street.

The 5.6 is definitely a sweet engine. The only major weakness is the manifold cracking issue.
I am with you though, as I get older, I want my shit to just run properly and quiet. Extra noise just gets maddening.

You got lucky then. Many times they will crack and the cat guts will get sucked into the engine.

I was also looking at aftermarket headers but sold my 2005 titan. Great truck IMO. I have a little ranger now and get at best 1mpg better for my short drive yet with a lot less power and worse ride.

IF and when the manifolds crack again, I'll probably go with long tube headers and Cajun B pipes with the cat on them and just extend my o2 sensor harness. It's all bolt in and should do away with the problem forever.
