A few know we are making a move soon and finally have a few pictures... Man cave (30'X40"+30'X16' patio) for now is getting full of stuff but will have a full bath & its own full kitchen and a sweet patio when things are finished... Will have inside of house pic's later but soon getting close...!

Really nice! The wooded area behind the house looks fantastic. Not staring at somebody elses house is an amazing perk. How big is your plot?

I see a nice area for a car lift in there :p

Instead of "for sale: house with 2 car garage" its "for sale: shop with 2 bedrooms"

Nice!
That's bigger than the above ground square footage of my house by like 20% :)

Never know what may find its way into the "cave"...;) The lot is 115' wide and a bit over 300' deep, also own the property on the other side across from it as well have a 14'X28' storage building on it... The wife sent a couple of pic's of the flooring which was finished today (porcelain tile just looks like wood)...

Thanks for the good words and (jlee) like your new location too has some real nice potential (the garage...) Whats going to be funny is when you see the pic's of our kitchen it will make you do a double take, have some pics soon just waiting on counter tops to come in and be installed...

Wow, that's not a cave, it's a cavern!

Based on the plants in the background, and the species of ants in 4th pic, I'm guessing this is in the wide-open state of Texas? :p

Looks like you got a good place to go instead of the dog house. :D ;)
Is it that apparent...? :whiste:
JulesMaximus... How many literbikes do you suppose I could fit in there?
Stacked or not...? I call it my BFB... (guess that one)

Yep SE TX which of course is fire ant country but not sure if they are worse than the damn Yaupon bush/trees...? Have good stuff I buy made by Bayer that kills most anything insect wise... The Yaupon stuff comes back worse than Tallow trees...:p

Did you have that building put up when buying the house? If so, how much did it run you (if you don't mind the question)?

Just curious as, on my long term list of things to do, a big shop building like that is something I am really wanting to do.

How did you get away with that. The garage is bigger than the house. If I had a wife I'm sure she would kill me if i did that.

If I had to guess I'd say the house is just being finished as well. Due to the sticker on the window, saw horse out front, and freshly poured concrete all the way around it.

House is new as well, we planned both the house and shop together... As for the cost of the shop it was a lot cheaper than you think... Everything included 30' wide X 56' total long 16' of it is gabled awning and has 12' walls with a 12'X10' tall roll up main door & 8'X8' roll up rear door to patio & side walk in door... Plus it is completely insulated sides and roof, also is wind rated at 120mph... All concrete plus the added 12' wide by 20' long front slab was included... Cost was $20600.00 I had to buy an additional 10 loads of dirt to level things but only took around 7 so had some to play with... That cost an additional $1000.00 so grand total was... (I did add the PVC for the drains/vents and water coming in myself which was around $65 total)

$21600.00 including tax

Took 2 days plus 3 hours of another day to build the building and the concrete was poured 2 weeks later... Yes this is a different approach but I looked at a couple of them in the area before I bought... There are cables under the concrete like a spider web criss crossing from all of the 5"X5" poles and is embedded in the concrete... Also the poles are encased in a thick black plastic sock as are the bottom 2"X6" boards that act as the form as well... Another different approach is the concrete itself... It has no other wire other than the cables it has fiberglass (5 sacks per yd.) of short hair type NOT the old cotton style so you can lay on it and not turn in to an itch fest... Just to add the building carries a 50 year warranty which includes termite damage this is due to using the plastic coating on everything...

This is the builder... http://mitchellbuildings.com/

Just to add the shop is 1680sqft. and the house is 1672sqft. so yes the shop is slightly larger... :D

Nice. Not a bad price at all. I kinda was guessing it'd be around that ball park.

I would never build anything without rebar reinforcement in the slab. My dad did this on a home he built, now years later, the entire house is about to crack in half due to the slab moving.
