New malware found on 30,000 Macs has security pros stumped

According to the article, the malware has been found in 153 countries. And, the 30,000 number is based solely upon infections Malwarebytes (who partnered with the researchers) can see, so they think the actual number is probably far higher.

Its ability to uninstall itself makes me wonder if this is the product of a state-sponsored intelligence agency.

Self-uninstall doesn't seem like too hard of a feature to implement into a malware.
