you can go to

blackberry.com/messenger on your phones to get it

* Avatars can be easily set up and then populated from BlackBerry Contacts
* Group Functionality - allows groups of friends, family and personal contacts to stay connected & share experiences instantly on their BlackBerry smartphones:
o ongoing group chat
o sharing pictures
o organizing tasks and events with shared lists and calendars
* Bar-code identity - easily add/invite contacts to BlackBerry Messenger by displaying a 2-dimensional bar code that the invitees can capture with their BlackBerry camera
* Large Media File Transfer - up to 6MB
* Back up contacts two ways. On your device and/or media card, or wirelessly linked to one of your email addresses

nice guide to EVERYTHING in it with pics

I personally have had the new one (leaker older version) for a while now, maybe 2 months, but from the original BBM it is amazing.

if you havent followed the blackberry news, RIM is in the process of "revamping" every OS. they are calling it 5.0

it has many new features such as, on my storm:

flick scrolling, threaded sms, (tabbed browsing- was in earlier leaks but not in the later ones, rumors are that they are fixing it up), much snappier OS.

right now any 5.0 out there is a leaked software, bound to have bugs.

the first phone that will release with 5.0 will be the Storm 2.

have fun with it!

5.0 is looking to be a very nice update, finally threaded texts. That was a long time coming. Tabbed browsing is a nice effort but tabbed browsing on a crappy browser is still a crappy browser. Next summer when they get the new one out will be nice.

I'm running it. Very nice.

You can't judge OS 5.x from the leaked Beta's that make it out to CR, etc. They're so out of date by the time you guys get them and any particular build may be put together to test specifics, so you could be missing features that are in the final, or you could have stuff that isn't. Just saying.
