New mail messages recieved mark as read after few minutes?! Need Help!!

I have Outlook 2000 on a Exchange 2000 server. Everytime when new mail messages arrives, without opening it or even highlighting the new mail, it marks as read or open envelope after few minutes. Checked all the settings in Outlook and everything is pretty much default. No rules applied and no preview pane open. What can be causing this to happen????? I searched Knowlegebase and nothing related to be found. Anyone had the same problem before? Need help!

I did take a look at that option and unchecked all the preview pane features and it messages still comes as read after few minutes.

Perhaps it is a setting on the Exchange server itself then.

Thanks for your reply. But where on earth can Exchange do such a thing? Nothing on Exchange has been touched or configured since past six months, and this just started happening a week ago.

You sure no one else is reading your mail? The only time I've seen that happen is the preview pane being turned on or someone else is snooping.

I can't be too sure that no one else is reading my mails. But every test email that I sent automatically changes to read after few minutes. My preview pane is off and so is the autopreview.

No mail rules setup to forward on messages to pager or anything? That's what happens to me. -TAL
