New Mad Max game looks amazing!

Man, they really pulled off the atmosphere of the post apocalyptic world of Mad Max almost to perfection it seems. This game was never really on my radar, but now it is.

It's made by the same studio that makes the Just Cause series, and you can see their influence in the quality of the explosions. And since Warner Bros is publishing the game, it looks like it may possibly have a very similar combat system to the Arkham series, which is a good thing! :thumbsup:

It's also current gen only so it won't have the baggage that is the last gen consoles.

Mad Max releases on September 1st 2015

I believe it when it releases. Hopefully its not another POS console port riddled with bugs.

Well that explains it then. In the earlier levels where you're fighting small mobs, achieving success with random button mashing is probably possible. But as you progress further, it becomes a recipe for failure.

And Arkham Asylum is an easier game than Arkham City, or Arkham Origins. In the latter two, the enemies are significantly more diverse with more complex attack patterns.

In Arkham City, the game will pit you against mobs of around twenty or so enemies, with diverse attack patterns and gear. Some of them will have stun batons, knives, guns, shields, or body armor.

This is when the genius of the free flow combat system becomes evident, because you really need to think strategically to prevail.

Also, the leveling up system doesn't reward random button mashing at all.

I only played some of Asylum, and I also thought the combat was awful. I've seen plenty of footage from the later games though, and it just seems like all you do is press the counter button when the silly icon flashes above an enemies head. So if Mad Max draws comparisons to Arkham, no thanks.

Ah, spoken like someone who hasn't played the games. The combat in the Batman series is fantastic, one of my favorites in all of gaming.

Mad Max on its own is not a game that would draw my attention. Usually games made on existing IP are disappointing (though that has changed a bit in recent years). So if Mad Max draws comparisons to Arkham, yes please.

Movie tie in games are rarely ever good. Escape From Butcher Bay in 2004 smashed that perception though. Perhaps this game can do the same.

I don't like that style of combat in any game I've played, and I'm disappointed that it's become so copied in gaming lately. So I clearly have different tastes than you do, imagine that, on the internet of all places.

shadow of mordor nailed it, but I would be hard pressed to say that was a movie tie-in...it was more of a Action RPG based on LOTR cannon.

But generally, games released a long w/ the movies suck.

I'm so sick and tired of the desolate post apocalyptic crap. It's been done to death in both movies and games then beaten with a stick.
It's little wonder the graphics and view distance would be good in a game that takes place in desert, rocky regions.
I'd rather play in a future that's a little more visually interesting.

Looking at the trailer (of the game) reminds me of the original look of the first Boderlands before they changed the art style with cel shading (at least metaphorically-speaking), only more glorified and detailed this time around of course. I don't mind the post-apocalyptic setting since I loved it in Fallout 3 and thought that it looked good in RAGE as well (although of course RAGE was way more linear but that's beside the point of it being set in that type of environment).

It's open world, and I like open world games (generally), and it's Mad Max. So, heck yeah, why not? I'll keep an eye on that one for sure.

The point was that you belittled my dislike of the combat system. So I simply expressed that I have different tastes than you do, to equalize the validity of both sides without belittling your point. Yet you still chose to reply with sarcasm here.

I didn't care for the Arkham series. The combat was boring and repetitive.

If this game is like that, Shadow of Mordor, etc. I'll skip it.
