Too bad it's no longer a $500 iMac. It's $600 and $800. What happened to introducing Mac to the masses, Steve?

Yep, that sucks....

Also, the fact that a Universal compatable CS2 won't be out till 07 is making me wait...

Not right now. The motherboard uses EFI instead of BIOS which windows doesn't support. Until Microsoft comes out with Vista (or some clever person comes up with a workaround for XP) there's no Windows on the new Apple hardware, only OSX.

I think.....

Funny, I'm running 10.4 on one of my PC's right now. Everyone likes their OS, but their computers as a whole are simply overpriced. WAY OVERPRICED. So a lot of people aren't willing to pay a few grand more for an OS, especially if their enthusiasts that know you can, and will be able to run OSX on PC's from now on. Or at least as long as MAC's are x86 based

Hah, did you really just refer to XP as a real OS? :)

XP is still superior to OSX in most ways. I say that as a gamer, and someone who hasn't seen a program crash in XP anymore then they do in OSX. And trust me, I'm using them both

It looks like they got their heads out of their asses on one front:
All hard drives run at 7,200 revolutions per minute (rpm).

I assume because of the low capacity ceiling that these are still 2.5" drives, though.

Also notice that they've added another ram slot, but gone to SO-DIMM's.

The intel integrated graphics is better than the 9200. The 9200 doesn't support core image, and I believe the intel one will. I'll let you know for sure next week.

Trust me...they figure out a way to hack it. I have Mac OSX on my dell laptop right now :)

They're 5400rpm notebook drives (they kept the same form factor). All of the core duo macs use sodimm memory, just fyi.

the higher prices totally killed the deal for me :(

I've been wanting a mac for a while now, and thought the Mini would be a nice way to go, but I cannot justify dropping $800 bones for that

For games... I doubt it'll be very passable. But then again BF1942 ran at about 14fps on the g4 mini with a dedicated 9200 and low resolution (800x600 I believe) and all options turned to low.

Macs are unfortunately not very good for playing games, especially the low end macs.

He's talking about the other way around. Right now, you can run OSX on a PC, but you can't run Windows on a MAC. At least not that I know of.

The core solo mini won't be terribly slow. It should be substantially faster than the G4 mini, especially as far as the GUI is concerned when using a higher resolution (1280x1024 or above) with a lot of windows open. They did add bluetooth/wifi and front row, so that alone for $100 isn't that big of stretch for me at least.

Why have you been wanting a Mac for a while now if your not willing to spend the money. WTF did you expect? Macs have always, and will always cost more. So just go buy the Acer knockoff and load 10.4 onto it. Done and Done.

You're going the wrong way there. ;)

OSX supposrts both BIOS and EFI so can be installed on either motherboard. Windows only supports BIOS right now do you're out of luck trying to run it on an EFI board. Since all of the new Mac/Intels use EFI you won't be seeing Windows on Mac hardware until a driver of sorts is released. I highly doubt someone will come out with one before Microsoft, but who knows.

Don't condone piracy... it'll turn this into a flame thread and the moderators may take action against you or others that claim they run it. Just let it be.

Don't assume things - I could have bought 10.4 and so can anyone else. ON APPLES SITE. So STFU.

I'm willing to spend the money, and I have been holding out buying a mac for some time now waiting until they've implemented the Intel chips. I'm just unhappy they raised the price $200 from where it used to be. I'm not gonna spend that much money just to have a Mac to play with. $500 was more in my ball park

Then once again, I give you OSX. I honestly don't see why anyone would want a Mac now that you an run OSX on a PC. Any appeal Mac's had to me just went out the window. Now you can spend $129 and dual boot any of your PC's.

You would not be entirely correct. (About the mac haters.)

Just do a text search for "shorty". I do go into specific detail. As well as some other folks.

You are violating the license agreement if you run it on non apple hardware. Don't respond again to me about this, I said no flames... please don't.
