New m/b chipset drivers installation

How will a newly installed mobo work when I install it for the first time in a system with a blank HDD that's gonna have, let's say WinXP installed? Probably from the cd that comes with it but this will happen after the OS installation. What's gonna show in device manager I wonder..... and how will the system work anyway?
I mean, having installed the ABIT BE-6 with the 440bx was no problem since all the chipset drivers are included in the OS after installing but what's the right sequence of steps I have to follow in this case for a proper mobo and drivers installation??

PS: Are the Intel 850 chipset drivers included in WinXP? Can I check it for myself in my pc? (let's say browsing in a way the XP drivers database?)

Install the OS and then install the drivers off of the motherboard CD if needed.
If you are using XP you may not need them. I always check the mobo manufacturers
site to see if there are any updated drivers before I install the ones on the cd.
You will have no problems.

Anyone knows which of the up-to-date chipsets drivers are included in XP? (e.g Intel850, even AMD's like KT266A)
Of course, it's highly suggested I check later for updated versions but what am I getting from my ....eXPerience? 😛

PS: I still don't understand how will the system boot for the first time in case the chipset drivers are not included in the OS....(the mobo cd comes later...) 🙁
