New Logitech mx510 Sensor doesn't work

So I just got in on the $15 AR deal for this and it came in a few days ago. I plug it in and it's detected by the system (I've tried it on two systems) and the buttons work, but the sensor never turns on, so I can click things if they're under the pointer, but I can't move the pointer around without using a separate mouse. This seems rather silly, so I'd like to get that sensor to work. I've tried installing the mouseware thing and that didn't help (even after a few reboots). Anyone have any ideas or heard of this problem before?

Great, I bought it online so I'm sure that won't be free. I was going to try buying one at a store, swapping, and returning, but no store around here has one. *sigh*

If it's a defective item then there's no restocking fee (at least at any decent retailer). All you should have to pay is shipping back to the seller.

Call Logitech, tell them your problem. Chances are they'll send you a new one without making you send the broken one back. That's what they did when my MX510's button started sticking.

Just for the record, I called up Logitech and the guy sent me a new mouse for free 🙂. Still have the old one, but I'm just going to throw it out I guess.

You could try taking it apart, tinkering with it. Maybe try and paint the cover and swap it with the new one. 😀
