ssanches,
you can do a driver install only...follow the instruction in the mouseware readme. you can get the files from the extracted installer in your C:\Documents and Settings\[your profile]\Local Settings\Temp\pft3~tmp folder
but what's the point?...it still wont work in games:
i did a driver install only by coppying the files that were extracted from the installer into a different directory...it was located in the C:\Documents and Settings\[profile]\Local Settings\Temp\pft3~tmp folder...then i just followed the instructions to do a driver install only. once they were installed i still had functionality in all the buttons on my mx500 except for the taskswitch/quickswitch button and the cruise control buttons are very slow and scroll according to the number of lines you have choose in TweakUI. despite having only the drivers installed, the scroll wheel in games is still not recognized !!
so then i proceeded to install the MS intellipoint software (v4.1). however when that was installed, the logitech drivers on it were removed and it had MS drivers. the mousewheel does work with the MS software in games, but the cruise conrol buttons are also mapped as mouse up/down. in addition the taskswitch button does not work. so i tried to install the logitech drivers on top of the MS drivers and intellipoint software, but then the intellipoint software is no longer there in the control panel of the mouse.
so in conlusion, there is no point in doing a driver install only if you're trying to make your logitech mouse work in games...and installing MS intellipoint software after doing a driver install only (for the logitech) will just overwrite the logitech drivers...i'm using Intellipoint right now since it works in games, but is there any hope in getting mouseware to work in games??
