I heard it is possible to flash a 48x lite-on to a 52x, how is this done?

Does this work for all LiteOn drives? Newer ones, let's say 40x and up?

There was a Hot Deal thread on Sony 48X which can be flash to a true Lite-on 52X Link. It'll tell all you need to know. FYI, I was able to flash my 48X sony to 52X Lite-on. I haven't try the new firmware yet, be interesting to see what it does.

Just reflashed it again... now Nero reports 52X burn speed.. .. glad I didn't have to do mtkflash and all of that. As the drive is being used as an external one. That would of been a pain. btw, this drive was a Memorex and it flashed fine to a Liteon

I just bought my first burner!!! Lite On 52x24x52 and installed it like 30 minutes ago

I am doing my first burn now on a verbatim 16 azo blue dye CDR.

How hard is updating the firmware?

where are instructions on to do it?

shh they are fueling the economy, you know 1 in 25 will kill drive, thus 4 out every 100 flashes = 4 drives sold.
