I went to his show here at the Ryman Auditorium last night, and damn, I knew he sounded good, but I never imagined how good he would be, even (or especially) on the tracks where his band wasn't on stage. Last time I saw him was with FMac in our large ampitheater and I was way back in the grass. The Ryman has won Pollstar venue of the year the past two years, but I've been to quite a few shows there and Lindsey has probably sounded the best (along with Toto and Joan Osborne).
Besides sounding good, the man is fun to watch. He really gets into the music, and gets downright crazy sometimes. In the last song, he kept letting people against the stage strum his guitar as he was going nuts on it.
From my count, he had 5 different guitar models (not counting the duplicates he had of the same model). The pics I took of those didn't turn out as well though. I wish I already had that camera with IS that I have been planning to get.
Also, after I guess the show was supposed to be over (already had an encore), the band had left the stage, and he signed a few autographs, and as the crowd kept cheering, he out of the blue asked if we wanted to hear another. Crowd went nuts and he played another. This seems to happen a lot at shows here in Nashville. Does it everywhere?
I remember the Garbage and Finn Brothers shows I went to in the last couple years doing this, both acting a bit surprised and thankful, and Finn Brothers commenting that they'll come back sooner next time.
Here are some pics I took. Sorry for posting them this way.
