Just got my iNtel boxed 1000mhz 100fsb cpu (slot1) and plugged it into my MSI BX master mobo.
Couldn't get it to run at 133 fsb, it would post but not get into Winblos, so I took it down to 126 fsb and now it's burning in a seti WU.
1.26 ghz on a BX mobo, how sweet it is ;)
This is with the stock HSF from intel. I suppose if I pried that off & put a good HSF on there with some AS3 it might just be a keeper at 1.33 or above ;)

So what HSF would be a good replacement for the retail, how do I get the retail hsf off & mount a new one?

Alpha probably has the best. It's been so long since I've dealt with slot-1 that I forget the model#. I do still have one. I might be looking to sell it. PM me if interested.

Upgrade to a Radeon 8500LE for about $81 shipped and move up to 256MB of RAM and you can play games with the best of them:D

hmmm, the radeon sounds interesting. Already have 256 megs PC133 on there and a Nvidia TNT2 w/32megs.
I'm mostly interested in boosting it up to the 133 FSB right now, the mobo and ram etc will do it for sure, the previous chip was a P3 700e running at 933. It was sacrificed to repair another machine, so I bought this slot1 secc2 P3 1000e. Retail HSF is pretty puny, and it runs fine at 126 FSB so I think with a better HSF & some AS3 it could easily move up to 133 FSB.

Well the P3 1000 killed my MSI mobo after I plugged in the Alpha with the dual Sunon 60x25 fans.
Afterwards I thought maybe I should have plugged them in to something other than the fan headers on the mobo...

So I put it in my Abit BH6!!

Now that baby is running a 124 mhz FSB for a OC to 1240 mhz!!!

I've always been happy with the BH6, what a great mobo!

I had a cD0 1000E on a slocket running stable @1380, 2.00v. The CPU rarely goes above 45C underload with a Alpha PEP66 (28cfm Adda fan). BUT at this speed it killed a few of my BX boards, the mosfets were really hot and had to be actively cooled despite this components around the mosfet started to fail (mainly bulging capacitors). In the end, it took a modified Abit BX133 to run this cpu at 1330mhz 24/7.

Thanks QSW, it killed my MSI BX master mobo within 24 hours of power up. Don't know now if it was the fan headers pulling too much juice or the caps blowing. I'll have to pull the board out of the case and do a proper post mortem.
It's been running in my BH6 at 1240 24/7 for several days.

The alpha HSF is so large I have to hang the PSU out the back of the case, but this gives more room for cooling at least, even if it looks kinda funny.

It's been running seti@home 24/7 and so far it is very stable. ;)
Doing each Work Unit in just a lttle less than 5 hours each too :)

Ever thought of picking up a 3 to 4 pin adapter ?

Neither of those boards were built for the current demand of the P1000. Did you up the voltage to overclock?? Let us know how the BH6 holds up. RRRRRRRRRRRRR

Yes, I now have the fans going through the adapters straight from the PSU and not running through the mobo.
The dual 60x25 Sunon fans were likely too much for the fan headers on the MSI mobo.

Right now the voltage on the P3 1000 @ 1240 is 1.8v and as stable as can be.

I used AS3 and put a huge alpha heat sink on it along with the dual sunon fans. It was a retail chip, so I had to remove the retail hsf first - which was less than fun. Once that was done the assembly of the alpha was a piece of cake.

Wish I hadn't wasted the MSI but that's life eh?

I had a CDO fcpga 1000/100fsb and I had the same resutls as you - 1250. I was also using an Alpha with a Sunon fan. I was trying to get the most out of my Soyo 6BA+IV BX board. This setup lasted about 2 weeks before I sold the chip and everything else and bit the bullet and went for the P4 Northwood. I don't think you are going to hit 133, especially since the slot 1's are older steppings. Good luck and thanks for the memories.

I know, I never plan on getting to 133 fsb with it on this mobo - it's just nice getting up over 1ghz with this old BH6 ;)

I owned a P3-1000/100 for a brief period of time. It did run at 1333 on two boards, an Abit BX133-RAID and an Asus P3V4X (with MSI slotket). Though it ran stably for days on each board, the noisy fan that was required to keep it cool (on a copper heatsink) was unacceptable, so I sold it.
