Steam is getting pummeled right now by people dl'ing Crash Course, a new 2 map Valve campaign that's free on Steam but costs I think like $5 on XBL.

Also, you can pick up L4D for friends and relatives for $15. Can't beat that with a stick.

I tried playing this again a couple of times over the past while, but damn, I just can't get into it anymore. I just find it boring and would rather play TF2 with all of the great Payload and KotH maps that are out there now.

Anyway, I will download and try these out, maybe they will renew my interest.

that will be on Nov. 17 the L4D2 retails at $49.99.

I don't hate steam though... I am waiting now for the update to load so I can play crash course.

"Hey Louis, they teach you anything at that business school about fixing helicopters?"

"I don't know. Did you try turning it off and turning it back on?"

Priceless.

Yeah, I didn't realize it only had 2 levels. It was fun to play through, but I was expecting a lot more.

I guess I'll have to wait for l4d2.

I knew ahead of time that it was only two levels. It's just they felt blah.

That and the stupid item spawn glitches. :/

It'll hold my interest for about a day then I'll get bored of it too. New maps do little to change the game and make it more interesting.

I just played it and I thought it was nice. It's a logical pick if you want a fast action map when you don't have one or two hours to play.

Played through the new stuff last night, it's not great, but it does add the big gun and the generator stuff, which modders can use in their own custom stuff now, which is cool.

Personally, I've been playing L4D for 10-20 hours a week since it came out, and have played it a lot more since the custom stuff started coming out. It's a game for me that almost relaxes me after a crappy day at work or whatever. Plus, I have a lot of friends on Steam to play with, and we all have mics, so we spend a lot of time just bullshitting around for an hour or so at a time.

If you're looking for some seriously awesome, lenghty L4D content, get the Dead City user made campaign. Its very polished and really good, with some wide open levels and just on normal it'll take you about 90 minutes to get through.

thanks valve. this confirmed for me that i won't be getting L4D2. i couldn't even find the urge to finish 2 lvls of crash course, which means this game no longer can hold my interest.

Yep. $15 is a great deal for a game nobody will be playing in 8 weeks. ;)

Right now, L4D1 averages around 14k-15k people on during peak hours on the PC. I would bet when L4D2 comes out, less than half those people will immediately move over to the sequel.

There's still going to be plenty of people playing L4D1 long after L4D2 comes out because it's a solid fun title, and 2, in a lot of peoples' minds, doesn't seem to add enough to the experience to warrant another $50 purchase.

So, $15 will last you twice as long as it would in WoW. Sounds good to me. :p

Yea it seemed a lot shorter than other campains but yes it was fun. Still not worth the full price of admission though.

If you want a full, lengthy campaign, grab Dead City. It's easily 90 minutes on Normal, and 2+ hours on Advanced.
