Make sure you're using its native resolution. Also does it have some kind of auto-adjust button? My Dell 1800FP does and it improves the picture immensely if using an analog VGA connection.

I concur. You should definitely purchase a card with a dvi out. It makes the image a lot better.

Again, as stated, make sure your running @ its native resolution, unlike a CRT it needs to be run @ that:D

Also try a different computer (for the other video card)... if it's still ugly at native resolution, get it exchanged.

Good info to know. The other day I was looking at LCDs at my local Frys Electronics, and they were all pretty fuzzy.

Fry's usually hooks about half a dozen monitors up on poor VGA cables and KVMs. I would not put a lot of faith in what you see on the show floor for the positive or the negative. If you are looking to buy an LCD, check to see if it is hooked up via a DVI cable straight from the monitor to a PC - the same way you would run it at home.

As for the Dell giving you problems, which one is it? The 1703FP? ClearType helps a TON with that monitor (or at least on mine).

yea, any monitor not hooked up directly to a pc at frys is fuzzy. its no indication of anything besides frys lack of attention to such things. good analog output on a lcd is not at all blurry.
