New lcd monitor question?

I just got a new 20.1" lcd monitor. The picture quality is just excellent. My big problem is that when I have it in the native 1600 x 1200 the font is very small. I have gone to the display setting and marked it to 120dpi and this helps but when I go to some sites it just doesn't make it any bigger and the font is very small to read. Even if I adjust the view to largest there is no change. Is there anything else to adjust that I am missing?

It only stays small on certain sites. This site is one that the writing stays small. I use ie's latest and greatest. Many sites it is large enough that it is normal font but some no.

In IE:

View > Text Size> Large or Largest

Give that a whirl! 😀

EDIT, I see you already tried that. Hm. I guess if some sites specify, it won't be over-ridden by the IE setting. Does FireFox work better? Maybe FF will over-ride the specified fonts on the site.

Also, have you tried enabling ClearType font smoothing? It might assist you in reading it.

Where do I find cleartype font smoothing?

Go to Control Panel > Display Properties > Appearance tab > Effects button

There's an option for Standard or ClearType font smoothing.

There should also be a setting in the browser to allow or disallow sites from overriding your settings.
