I'm not harping on anything, Jack, but my TV screen ain't super reflective when the sun hits it. It's a matte sort of finish. If someone has a problem with glare from a window or room lighting, I wouldn't touch a shiny screen, no matter how purty it looks with the lights completely OFF. How often do I use my TV in complete utter darkness? How about almost NEVER?

But he has to see it for himself to decide that.

50,000:1 Dynamic Contrast Ratio will give you a picture better than you ever thought possible, with whiter whites, blacker blacks and a nearly infinite subtlety of gradations in between. As two of the most important determining factors in overall picture quality, contrast and brightness levels achieve new heights in this latest generation LCD panel. Samsung?s new LCD TV?s give the most stunning realistic picture quality ever.

Yawn. Who really believes this crap? And they also can't even make a TV that stays on with working firmware new in the box? AMAZING!

Samsung's unique Transparent and Opaque Color (TOC) bezel with infused color creates an ultra-sleek shape and appearance. Samsung?s Series 6 marks the first appearance of TOC (Touch of Color) design in the 2008 LCD HDTV line-up. Inspired by designs from the automotive and fashion industries, Samsung?s unique unique Transparent and Opaque Color molding process creates a clean, smooth finish infused with a hint of a translucent color during the manufacturing process for an ultra-sleek appearance.

WOW, The picture NEVER LOOKED BETTER! Umm, except for the fact this has NOTHING TO DO WITH THE PICTURE, it just looks so darn cool!

But whatever, he's got to decide what to buy and looks best, not you.

Well you have your opinions but the consensus on avsforum is that the 650 series Samsungs are the current best LCD's you can buy.

Sorry you have a Sharp, I detect a hint of buyers remorse.

You need to get your radar checked. It's called sarcasm, not buyers remorse. I compared sets for months before I bought one last year. I could have bought another Sammy, and I have 2 22 incher HDTVs I use as monitors. The fact is, these TV makers are making crazy claims on the sets no one can possibly verify. That's how they get away with making those claims.

Once one TV maker starts lying about it, all the others have to play catchup and start lying about a new model. 50000:1 contrast ratio, up from 25000:1? Are you bullshitting me? Why, yes I am. And I dare you to prove I'm lying. Surprise! You CAN'T.

These unsubstantiated figures are based on very fuzzy math that some head case in the marketing department came up with to sell TVs. You will NEVER see a single engineer for any company defending their amazing claims with one shred of test data or calculations to back them up. What does that tell you? It's 90% marketing bullshit and 10% facts, if that.

If your bullshit meter is that broken, I got some swamp land in Florida I can sell you for 100 times what it was originally worth, too. Oh, don't believe me? It's now called Disney World.

But that colored bezel sure is purty, darlin! :p

Yes you certainly are a crusader for consumer awareness, we are all in your eternal debt. Doesn't change the fact the the 650's are still tits as far as LCD's go.

As for the rest, I was merely observing you troll from thread to thread in this forum repeating the same things over and over again about how crappy you think the new Samsungs are. Well you're wrong, compared side to side it's better than a 71F Samsung and better than a 4 series XBR, which means if you were to compare it with your Sharp you would be crying in your soup.

So really, save your energy, your fear mongering about the firmware and other associated trolling isn't helping anyone.

Now be fair. He also trolls about HD-DVD and Harman Kardon. ;)

Why is this snake guy ranting about Samsung's 650A firmware thing that is now a non-issue? There is no question it's the best LCD out there now, why do you keep bringing this up in every thread trying to promote the Sharps? They are nice sets, but the Samsung is better, HANDS DOWN, NO CONTEST.

P.S. I don't even have one, I have a 4665F, but I've seen the 650 and it's amazing.

I just bought the Samsung 46A550, and it is absolutely stunning. I am so glad I did some research this time before buying.

Fry's has this set even cheaper than Amazon - they have it for $1499. I don't know if this promotion is still going on, but the sales guy said they have a deal where they take another hundred off of you buy a Monster accessory worth $79 or more (like their ridiculously over-marketed power strip). I told the sales guy (politely) how much I didn't like Monster, and he actually swung the deal where I got the hundred off without buying any Monster crap. I got this tv for $1399 plus tax!

I am pretty pumped right now. Shrek 3 is on, and I can't believe the quality. If 120hz is supposed to be better, I can't imagine it and I certainly can't imagine it being worth paying hundreds more.

Ok I for myself have decided I am going to get one of the samsungs but my question is should I get one of them for my computer display for multi use or should I get one of these for both computer and tv/dvd viewing?

http://www.newegg.com/Product/...tion=&Ntk=&srchInDesc=

Right now I use a viewsonic 28in for both computer and tv but Im not too happy with the tv part of it the computer is fine however. I am getting rid of the viewsonic anyway so that is why I am asking for help.

Get this one. I have a friend that got it for his PC monitor and he LOVES it. Great for hooking up a PS3 and 360, and watching Blu-Ray movies too. :)
