there are so many choices out there for lcd and I was wondering if a few people can help me pick out the best one. I have only a few guidelines.

No more then $2000(a little over is ok)
No bigger then 52 inches but no smaller then 40inches
At least 2 hdmi inputs.
I dont care about internal speakers I have my own set.
It has to also be available in a retail store.(maybe persuaded otherwise depending on price difference)

So guys can you help me select the absolute best tv with those requirements. Thank you.

So those are the abosulute best lcds with my variables in mind and yes I can stretch the budget a bit for a noticable difference.

The link for the 52in samsung goes to the 46.

No, there are no qualifiers, those are THE best LCDs out today. However, take a look at them first at your local HT store as they do have a reflective screen, but that screen is what gives the LCD its vibrant colors.

And the 52" link has been corrected.

You should look at the Sharps, too.

Those Sammys have a known problem with a bad firmware they were shipped with that makes the TV shut down over and over again. Talk about crappy quality control. Might even damage the set just using it while trying to flash the firmware update while it shuts down repeatedly.

Seriously dude, that is a remote possibility. The firmware fixes the issue. Why deny yourself one of the best LCD out because you don't want to do a simple firmware upgrade? That doesn't make any sense. However I would recommend the OP looking at as many HDTV as he can as see what looks best to him. If the Sharp looks better to him, great. But I HIGHLY doubt anyone would choose a Sharp over the new Samsungs. They are simply beautiful. And the shutoff problem is a moot point as it has already been resolved.

Well, they would deny themselves the latest and greatest if they already bought some model from last year. But I feel sure the new Sharps for this year will manage to limp along and keep up. At least the Sharp will likely stay on, lol.

Yep, Samsung will stay on with their new firmware and continue to produce a picture second to none (excluding Pioneer Elites ;)) and Sharp will stay on and still produce that same banding they can't seem to fix even with firmware upgrades. Talk about delivering sh!t products to market. Sharp won't even fix it with a firmware upgrade.

Ultimately, time will tell if it continues to work, won't it? As I said, mine has no banding, and others have posted of no banding, but if you want to spread false info from less than 1% of anal unhappy Sharp owners, feel free to do so. Just don't confuse that with facts, Jack.

LOL, I love that. It's irritating how I keep harping on banding on Sharps, isn't it? Kind of stupid isn't it? Well that's how you sound with the retarded "boo-way" and firmware fixed Samsungs. Your argument is COMPLETELY irrelevant.

Quit throwing out BS information to put the set YOU bought in a better light. Facts are facts. The Sharp sets are nice, but the Samsungs are better. It's really that simple. Samsung and Sony are top tier LCDs, Sharps are below that.

I'm telling you man, the 650 Samsungs are beautiful (The 46" Samsung may be able to fit in your budget). Take a look at them at your local HT store. Like I said, the ONLY thing you may have a problem with is their reflective screen. If you have sunlight coming in from a window right behind you, you're going to get quite a bit of glare. But check it out and see what you think. In the end, you're going to have to see what looks and works best for you. If it were me though, I'd definitely get the Samsung.

It's b00-way, Jack!

I'm not harping on anything, Jack, but my TV screen ain't super reflective when the sun hits it. It's a matte sort of finish. If someone has a problem with glare from a window or room lighting, I wouldn't touch a shiny screen, no matter how purty it looks with the lights completely OFF. How often do I use my TV in complete utter darkness? How about almost NEVER?

But he has to see it for himself to decide that.

50,000:1 Dynamic Contrast Ratio will give you a picture better than you ever thought possible, with whiter whites, blacker blacks and a nearly infinite subtlety of gradations in between. As two of the most important determining factors in overall picture quality, contrast and brightness levels achieve new heights in this latest generation LCD panel. Samsung?s new LCD TV?s give the most stunning realistic picture quality ever.

Yawn. Who really believes this crap? And they also can't even make a TV that stays on with working firmware new in the box? AMAZING!

Samsung's unique Transparent and Opaque Color (TOC) bezel with infused color creates an ultra-sleek shape and appearance. Samsung?s Series 6 marks the first appearance of TOC (Touch of Color) design in the 2008 LCD HDTV line-up. Inspired by designs from the automotive and fashion industries, Samsung?s unique unique Transparent and Opaque Color molding process creates a clean, smooth finish infused with a hint of a translucent color during the manufacturing process for an ultra-sleek appearance.

WOW, The picture NEVER LOOKED BETTER! Umm, except for the fact this has NOTHING TO DO WITH THE PICTURE, it just looks so darn cool!

But whatever, he's got to decide what to buy and looks best, not you.

Online shipping is fine for some things, but generally the bigger it is, the more chance it will get damaged on the way to you, just so you know. I have recieved large items literally falling out of the crushed boxes before from UPS. If the box is damaged in any way, like crushed from dropping on a corner DO NOT ACCEPT DELIVERY. Otherwise the shipping company will claim it arrived in perfect condition, and the seller will claim you damaged it, and warranty will not cover a cracked case or screen or other shipping damages.

I would HIGHLY recommend Amazon. Their white glove delivery is GREAT. I ordered a Samsung 5271 for my parents from Amazon and like I said, the service was great. They took the TV out of the box, set it up on their stand, and let me test the TV through a few HD scenes via an HD-A3 unit. They then asked if I wanted to keep the box it came in, or have them take it away for me. I obviously chose to keep the box just in case they need to return it for whatever reason.

When buying online, I wouldn't go for the cheapest online retailer. You need one that you know has a good reputation, ESPECIALLY with a high ticket item like the one you're looking to buy. Again, I HIGHLY recommend Amazon. It's worth the little extra you'll pay. Also note, when you buy something from Amazon, you don't always buy from Amazon. Sometimes you get retailers that sell online. I can only vouch for products sold by Amazon.
