New laws in US that could prohibit CD copying?

I was searching Google for the web site nForcersHQ when I came across this article on this web site: http://xbetas.com/comments.php?catid=1&id=1501

It says that CloneCD will stop being made because new German laws make it illegal there and if the new laws that are on the table for the EU that are similar to the German ones are past then it will also be illegal there. It also mentions the US twice along the same lines. That scares the hell out of me! Does anyone know if there are new laws coming here in the US that would prohibit making backups of game CDs and music CDs? This is the first I?ve heard of it unless they are talking about what Fritz Hollings tried to pass which goal is to lock down anything digital from transferring stuff back and forth between devices.

That's a dumb law that will be impossible to enforce.

Just prohibit the sale of cdr media.

Unfortuneately, that would be impossible as there are more legitimate resons to use CD-R media than illegal ones.

next thing you know they will make it illegal to use no cd patches

before reading that article, consider this:

Does anyone would notice if you copy a music to a CD without selling it?
The term "Prohibit", and "Laws" are only use for those prouducer to do legal process, I do not think it would affect consumer unless they find out that you are copying their product.

I am not sure About legal term or process, but I do believe that they will not know even if you are copying music or distribute copy through Kazaa or eMule

Please correct this message if you find anything that is wrong cuz I wanna learn some legal stuff about Internet distribution.
