New laptop w/ Vista Premium

I just bought a new laptop Gateway P-7811 FX and have Vista home premium on it. I have always avoided Vista like the plague but now it comes pre-installed on this system so I figure I might as well get used to it.

So heres a few Q's:

What files and folders in the Vistra structure can i regularly empty out?
Is there a temp folder just like in xp pro somewhere hidden that store all the files that can be trashed?

Where can I find to unhide file extentions and show files in Detail for each and every folder. Things are a bit different then XP pro it seems.

Any other tips I can use to make it easier to manage Vista?

Folder options, I don't think that one changed at all. It's in the control panel, as usual, but typing "fo" into the start menu is much easier.

As for detail view, go to the blue bar on explorer and use the dropdown menu. I suppose you could always summon up the menu bar with Alt but I never had a use for that thing.

The Disk Cleanup utility works pretty well for emptying out some of the junk. I did a search across my (C:\) drive for TEMP folders and came up with 100MB in files, and some of the folders belonged to things like OOo and Avira.

Edit: Programs and Features to uninstall the bloatware.

The most effective and efficient method for cleaning out the bloatware is to re-install a clean version of OS.
