New job, got a new WIN10 laptop from work for work-from-home. Have full admin privileges to install software so it seems. I installed Synergy (software KVM) so I can use my desktop PC's keyboard/mouse to control the laptop - the install went fine except it won't connect over to the laptop. But it's not Synergy that's the problem, because the first troubleshooting step is to ping the "server" from the "client".

Using my main PC here (192.168.1.9) as the server (keyboard/mouse) and the laptop (192.168.1.28) as the client, I can only ping from PC to laptop, but not from laptop to PC (Request timed out.). They are both connected to the main router via ethernet cable. The only thing the laptop can ping is the main router (192.168.1.1) and the access point (192.168.1.200) but no other devices on the network.

I will contact Synergy about the following log errors that show up but was hoping there's something obvious I'm missing.
ERROR: tls error occurred (generic failure)
ERROR: openssl error: error:1408F10B:SSL routines:SSL3_GET_RECORD:wrong version number
ERROR: failed to connect secure socket

Any chance the laptop doesn't have the right gateway IP set?

Copy/paste your "ipconfy /all" please?

Gateway is indeed pointing to 192.168.1.1 on the laptop. It's also using both Windows Defender and McAfee. See screenshots: https://photos.app.goo.gl/RCmqWhRt3RLJgQK39

For McAfee, the event log doesn't show it blocking anything related to Synergy. No events from right now even though Synergy is currently trying to connect. Is the goal to find the setting in the firewalls to allow 192.168.1.28 (laptop)? I don't see a setting? Does it have to be done at the router? Do the domain name differences matter?

FYI, my old work laptop (different company/image) allowed Synergy to work flawlessly and I didn't have to change anything for setup.
