I'm picking up an old IBM Thinkpad 390E w/ 128mb of RAM, a PII 333mhz processor, and a 6.4gb hard drive. What fun stuff can I run on this? :) It's been so long since I've owned a slower PC. I got it mainly for AIM and the net wherever I want, but what else can I do with the bad boy? Thanks in advance!

one of my friends runs winXP on a p166 laptop w/ a wireless network and just remote desktop's to his PC from his bed ;) I guess you could add that to the list, heh.
You could always play DOOM on it too.

Think an SNES emulator would work, or would it end up chugging along?

Yeah, I was thinking some old games would be kewl.. my personal fav being Descent 2 :) I'm debating putting WinXP on there though...will it be reasonably fast w/ all graphic effects turned off, or would I be better off using Win2k?

We have W2K installed on our plotter server (P2 - 333Mhz, 64mb), and it runs OK considering it just acts as a plot server and no apps are run on it. The extra 64mb RAM in the lappy will most certainly help.

check out "home of the underdogs" for a great list of games that are for older systems and are abandonware

(im not affiliated with them or anything, it's just real good stuff =)

SNES emulator sounds good to me. The underdog site is really good. I got a couple text adventures from that site. How about a glorified mp3 player?
