New laptop for a college freshman?

Hello all!

My sister is going off to college as a freshman and I'm looking for a laptop that would fit the following criteria:

1) Light
2) Not Huge (14-15" would be ideal)
3) Under $900, but cheaper is better.
4) Important: HAS TO BE PRETTY (???)

Sidenote: Gaming unimportant, this is more for video chatting, doing homework, surfing the web, etc. Unfortunately this means the Thinkpads are out because she wants to use something "pretty".

I think one of the A6s would fit the bill but not sure which ones are good, having never used one before. sandy/ivy bridge would be ok too, but those tend to be a bit more expensive.

Won't she get made fun of being the only one without a Macbook?

You can probably get a pretty Dell 15R for that price. You can get different types of lids of it and it has the nice rounded corners and design.

Not a laptop rec but maybe an accessory like

Your definitely not getting bang for the buck (can SSD and/or i5 Ultrabooks for that price) but you get same premium design for less.

thanks for all the advice, decided to get the acer because its cheap and good enough for the time being.
