New laptop...and I hate all the crap they install on it.

I got a nice new lappy from HP. It really is one hell of a machine, but I hate all the crap they install on your computer when you get it. If you were in the same situation, would you just format the hard drive and start over, or would you go through and just uninstall all the stuff you didn't want to use?

I went through and uninstalled all the crap I would never use on my Dell. It's been working like a champ for about a year now 🙂 Good ole Insprion 9300 with the 6800 Go 🙂

When I got my brand new lappy from HP about 2 years ago, I immediately ran a full reformat. That's the way to make a new laptop even faster. 🙂

Good question. My only concern is the battery meters and things of that nature, I'm considering doing a fresh format on my T40.

I suppose I might as well format the drive. I have the OS disc here, and my good ole key is on the bottom... here goes nothing! If I don't post back, I guess it didn't work 😀

First things I do with a new comp:
1) Reformat
2) Reinstall windows
3) Install all updates
4) Install Office and a few other things
5) Create ghost 8 image

Do it. I have a T40 as well, just run the Lenovo auto update. I got my battery meter back, full wireless and presentation. And I only have 30 processes running including AV, FF, and MSN.

And this is exactly what I did (well I installed a few other programs I know I always need)
