Very cool! I noticed your at 9 x 133.11 with a 1ghz cpu. Just curious if you had to adjust the voltage at all?

yeah a red core...i dont really feel like taking the hsf and grease off to take a pic...maybe later

anyway, those screens were taken at 1.80 volts.

heres the problem:

9X133 - first attempt, default voltage, windows protection error
9X133 - second attempt, 1.775 volts, windows protection error
9X133 - third attempt, 1.80 volts, windows boots, perfectly stable (those screens were taken then)
I rebooted, registry error.... lost the registry
tried 1.825 and 1.85, still registry errors, windows wont boot....
so here i am, back at 8X133 (1066), and i must say im not satisfied, and im confused (was that one time a fluke?!).

so, as much as im enjoying running at 133fsb, i still want 1.2Ghz. please help....

i just found that it boots into windows fine at 1200 @ 1.85V, but sandra and 3dmark crash. maybe i need more voltage? suggestions!?

ok maybe that isnt the problem...

3DMark2000 locks up at random times during the first test (no matter what the clock speed), Unreal Tornament does the same...

TNT2 Ultra, 6.31 drivers (glsetup), via 4.28 4in1 drivers.

Now I just want to fix the video lockups, and I'm running out of ideas here...

Suggestions?

i found the problem, locks up at agp 4X. i have to run at 2X. i guess that sucks. how much of a difference does it make as far as fps and 3dmark score?

check this out:

http://www.powerlink.net/acamarata/mem.jpg

not good? KT7A with tbird running at 8X133...64MB PC100 and 256MB PC133. both are running at 133, cas3, though the 256MB dimm is capable of cas2.

i would expect more from the KT7A, im not asking for miricles, but isnt that kind of a low score?

Turn on 4-Bank interleaving, take out the PC100 stick, and crank it up to CAS2 with all the other BIOS memory turbo settings switched on.

That should speed things up considerably.

I am so glad to see someone with the same rig! Mine is coming in a few days! And I don't know wtf I'm doing! I was just gonna post this:

I took this exerpt from Mortin's review of the KT7A http://www.icrontic.com/?action=hardware&id=41

"Since the KT133A chipset still uses the DDR EV6 bus, the FSB runs at an effective 266MHz. This is 2.1GB/sec of bandwidth, folks. The KT7A also uses the new 686B Southbridge with ATA/100 support."

"The KT7A will work with both original 100MHz FSB Athlons and the new 133MHz FSB Athlons. The beauty of this board is it's in-BIOS multiplier manipulation. If you have a current 100MHz FSB Athlon, you can simply decrease the clock multiplier (assuming you unlocked the chip), and increase the FSB. This is done while keeping the default 33MHz PCI speed. This is thanks to the VT8363A North Bridge Controller"

My question is what should I set it for while utilizing the supported FSB@133?

It's a 1GHz Chip I would like to see at 1200 so...

Does that mean 9x133 = 1197 ????

yeah thats what i tried, but it wasnt stable at 9X133 (well not for long). im running at 8X138 = 1100 right now, which is pretty sweet. its worth a try though

Please do this test to see if you suffer the same problems with the KT7a that I do:

Can you try something for me? Copy a HUGE (500meg or so) from one hard drive to the other then compare them using the following command in a DOS windows:

fc /b filename1 filename2

Mine would ALWAYS show a difference, if the computer did not crash first. I'd like to know how to get this rig stable, because when it works, it hauls.

I've posted the troubles I'm having here:

well i have two ATA66 Drives, both quantums, fireball cr, and fireball lm (7200rpm). they transfer pretty fast. didnt take more than a half hour... if youre having problems....install the latest drivers, if you still have problems, turn off dma

Where'd you get the CPU and how much did you pay for it? Are you going to OC it? Are you running the stock cooler?
