Somebody please help,
I have a brand new Philips 109B monitor and I'm having problems with the settings.

First off, the higher I set the refresh rate the fuzzier the text looks. When I went up to 85hz from 60hz it seemed fuzzier. Any thoughts as to why?

Secondly, (and more importantly), I can't get the screen size right for my Half Life Mod "Day of Defeat" (but obviously same software as CounterStrike). I can't make the screen small enough (using the Video Controls section) to get the right/left stuff to fit. In other words, the extreme edges are cut off. I tried doing that in conjunction with my buttons on the monitor (the horizontal/vertical size AND zoom) and it still didn't help. Any suggestions? I know I'm just being a dummy and there is probably an easy fix.

Right now I'm running at 1280X1024 in windows, and I think I was going for the highest (smallest) setting in Day of Defeat

WinXP is my software and I did not install any drivers that came w/ the monitor. Refresh rate is 60.

Thanks

Okay, maybe you should try installing the drivers for your monitor. Also, get the Nvidia Refresh Rate Fixer (try a search in google, link excapes me right now) and that will make your monitor set to a higher refresh rate thrpough restarts (60hz is quite bad on the eyes).

THe text fuzziness may be b/c of CLear Type. Go to the desktop properties and therte is an advanced settings box and turn it on or off.

The above poster suggestion should help with Half Life.

As for the fuzzy text, and using normal font smoothing...you should be aware that the problem you report (fuzzier text at higher resolutions with higher refresh rates) is a common complaint for past nVidia boards. As to whether that's the same problem you are experiencing with the Ti200, I cannot say.
