I got a new job sometimes in May. They're finally letting me start December 1st! Going from L3 server support to NOC / monitoring. Same pay, more/better hours, less stress. Should be great. Will be my first non customer facing job. It's shiftwork, which should be fun. I will get more days off and such. Because I'll get days off in the week I'll actually be able to get more stuff done since everything will actually be open when I'm not working. Man, this job is going to rock.

I just hope I don't get bored of the job itself, but all the other perks make it worth it. Now I need to find a hobby to make more money on the side, since I'll have the time, so why not. I need to somehow come up with like 13k to redo my weeping tiles next summer.

I've never heard of job starting a half year later. I hope they don't do shady shit and 'unhire' you like they did to my friend last month.

Basically I'll be monitoring network, servers, and other devices, even air pressure in telephone lines. I forget exactly what it spans, something like all western Canada and think even stuff in Quebec.

And yeah right now I'm on a contract with a customer and that customer is really picky about who works there, so they've been keeping me there. Sucks that they can get away with that, and I don't know why they always bend over backwards for that customer, he's cancelling the contract anyway. The new union agreement has a 60 day max wait time, but it was signed after I got the job.

I am kinda scared they cancel it on me, but it looks like I'll be safe. They actually had another opening and the new guy already started, so that's a piss off.

But in the end, I just have to be happy I have a job.

When I switched from infrastructure to doing Sharepoint full time, it took them roughly 9 months to allow me to switch over. It was ridiculous.

I presume he means more hours available (he is working part time now or so, or wants overtime), and the hourly pay is the same...

otherwise yeah. not awesome. :awe:

40 hours instead of 37.5, so yeah, was full time but still a bit more hours. Adds a bit extra on the pay. :D I think there will be more oportunity for overtime too.
