Posted another thread earlier this week about how I'm being laid off soon and hoping to get a new job closer to home.

The manager for said company just called in response to an email I sent them this morning, which was a counter-offer. (I raised their offer by 7K). He told me that he absolutely couldn't spend that much, but he really does want me on the team, and asked what my number would be. I told him that if they gave me 5K more I would sign today. He said "welcome to the team".

Stress be gone!

I pray every night before I go to bed that I will be laid off so I can retire. I can't just quit and retire because the ol' lady would be pissed, but she would go along with the layoff and retirement. I dream every night of sucking the financial blood from all you youngsters. I am going to live for decades collecting Social Security and Medicare that you will never see, but have to pay for.

Ha, ha, ha!

Nice! Now I know nothing about the work world (in college), but how can he 'absolutely not spend 7k more' but immediately say yes to 5K more? Just 2K over a year doesn't seem like that big a deal.
