I don't support gay marriage. I think it is unnatural. Yea, I know some of you will hate me and call me names, but people have a right to feel how they want. I have a right to not like people or groups of people. I group gay marriage in the same category as a parent marrying a child. It just shouldn't happen.

Why shouldn't it happen. Why should other people have to live by what you think is right and wrong when you can't even give a reason why things should be as you say other than that the should be that way. You also have a right not to wipe your ass but people are going to notice you stink.

Do you believe that parents should be allowed to marry their children? Do you believe that cousins should be able to get married? Sure, there are potential health risks if they have kids, but it should be their decision, right? This is the same category that I lump gays into. I don't actively campaign against gays getting married, I just don't support it. I find it unnatural.

Should people be able to marry cows or other animals? Give me a good reason why not that doesn't contradict your arguments for gay marriage and I'll listen.

Now look at yourself carefully. Others provided good reasons why not. Has it made you listen? I hope so because bigotry is curable disease, but I there is a famous saying about bigots being able to listen. "You can tell a bigot, but you can't tell him much." Your bigotry is has an unconscious origin. You can't simply decide to hear that you have a problem with hearing and then suddenly be able to hear. You have to feel that the revulsion you feel for yourself that is hidden is the revulsion you feel for gays. You will need to experience organic shame and want to change at a really deep level. You have to understand that your bigotry kills when it is multiplied many times and infects a whole society.

Last night I listened to a program on Human Kind about the black family that broke segregation in Alabama schools. I listened as one of the children who was only allowed to hold the jump rope cried and cried and cried, what some 40 or 50 years later over the pain she was forced to endure from the terrible discrimination she lived through. She would go home and her Mom would beg and plead with her and order her not to hate, not to let the same disease infect her. There are people in this world of enormous moral character. You must want to be one too. Good luck, there is only love.

Actually, after that. There's a window after they lose the election to go in as lame ducks and pass terrible legislation they couldn't if they wanted to get re-elected.

Beware that window. For example, net neutrality is at great risk during that window and it's worth an extra call to your Congresspeple about that.

When animals become sentient, tax payers, citizens, able to go out and get jobs, able to think critically about things like humans can, then lets talk.

Until then saying "But if we let gays get married then should people be allowed to marry their dog?" just makes you sound ridiculous.

I think part of the problem comes from the right-wing crowd just failing to understand the nature of homosexuality. They think of gay people as being just like them, except that for some terrible reason, the same way some people choose to kill or rape or steal, they choose to commit perverted sex with the same gender. And 'that's just wrong'.

Polls show that most people who support gay marriage understand that gay people are naturally gay without choosing it, and that most who oppose gay marriage think that homosexuality is nothing but a decision these people make, inexplicibly.

It's why the right so wants to create 'help' for gays to wean them from the bad choice, like it was a drug addiction. Their whole view of the gay issue relies on their assumption that it's some voluntary choice that can be corrected, like anti-crime or anti-drug behavior.

Once people are educated about hmoexuality to understand that for nearly all homosexual people (sex is a complicated human trait for which there are few universal facts), it's a natural development they did not choose just as attraction to the opposite sex happens to heterosexuals at puberty without their choosing it, they tend to support equal rights.

It's this utter ignorance about homosexuality that leads to the 'marry their pet' type response.

The question is how to get through to these people to educate them. For them, even something like the Cheney daughter of Tom Foley don't matter; it's like learning his daughter uses drugs or Tom Foley took a bribe. They just tsk, tsk at the mistakes, rather than noticing that they did not choose homosexuality.

One thing that blocks many from being at all open to noticing the truth is that they believe the bible condemns homosexuality, and that closes the issue.

They'd no more consider vieweing homosexuality as normal (but unusual, like being a redhead) and free of sin than worshipping Satan is 'ok' - it's simply wrong.

They're able to blow off the analogies between racism and homosexual bigotry by treating race as something not chosen, and homosexuality like a criminal act that is chosen.
