Naw, from what I understand cops get very special treatment in jail. They are kept away from the general population and housed with the very low risk inmates who won't fuck with them because they would lose their cushy conditions.

not from what i heard. My nephew did a few years in prison. he said the cops were well known and in general pop.

seemed even the guards don't like bad cops.

A woman and a seven year old child in imminent danger of losing their lives due to asshole firing a gun into the car. Asshole changes position from the side of the car to the front of the car and sends another volley of gunfire into the car. Evidently the cops were present during all of this and did nothing to stop them???

Well, they did hug him once he surrendered.

It has been upheld by the SC, the police are not there to serve & protect. Just enforce the laws, which btw they have the right to make a judgement call.

Where is our resident cop apologist Ackmed? Shouldn't he be explaining how this is proper procedure?

I mean he always has a reason and defends cops that kill people, he really needs to explain why the cops didn't kill the shooter.

If you've ever taken care of a gunshot victim, its clear that even critical injuries often allow someone to make it to a hospital for some treatment. I still find it shocking that no one is considering that the victim may have been alive after the first volley and by doing nothing, the officers involved allowed him to kill her with the second volley or kill her kid.

This is one of the absolute craziest stories I think to come across anandtech in a long time.

Doesn't appear that any of the 'apologists' are planning on showing up in this thread.

They let him dump another set of rounds into her and then they confirmed it? What is this place? Am I in VR right now?

Wonder if there was a lot of domestic violence in his past that was constantly covered up by the department?

Probably not. If a man with a slung rifle is an immediate threat, sure so is a man holding a pistol WHO JUST SHOT BULLETS FROM THAT VERY PISTOL INTO A LIVING HUMAN BEING IN FRONT OF COPS.

Well - not to the one he murdered. ;)

I "enhanced" this for you.

They are all accessory to murder.

If a bunch of dudes with guns just stood around while their buddy shoots the shit out of his wife, then they still just stood around, then the buddy shoots his wife again, then they hugged him and took him away, you are damn fucking straight they get charged with accessory to murder.

Unless they are cops. The badge and blue costume changes EVERYTHING, including the law. Even the constitution. Having a badge apparently means the local, state, federal, and constitutional laws don't apply to you. Stand around and do nothing as your buddy commits murder? And then stand around and do nothing as he makes sure the murder is complete? No problem!
