Wow, this is definately going to be my summer 2003 anthem album. Man, listening to it just wants to make you want to sit back and chill. I highly suggest it!!!

Hmmmm....I've heard good things about him, but never heard his first album. Hopefully it won't take too long to find.

I don't like it very much compared to his older album. It seems like he's just riding on the relative success of the first one, hoping the same formula will get him through to the third album. Although I like it, I'd hoped for more variety and less homogeny from song to song. Gets kinda boring after a while.

Like koni said (holy sh-t haven't seen you in a while!) it's alot like the first album. That's not bad, considering I enjoyed the first. It's mellow stoner/surfer music, but it's just like vol2 of
Brushfire Fairytales.

For something similar but with more variety, check out Ben Harper, who is touring with JJ this summer. Ben's music varies in alot of different directions like Reggae and rock
than Jack Johnson. I've got tickets to their show at the Hollywood bowl in August, I'm pretty excited.

It's a great CD.

It's all the songs I love from his live concerts done in the studio. :)

I lump it in with "College Pop" but he has a very bluesy style that seems more well-made than the like of DMB and John Mayer.

And I agree, Ben has so much more depth. He goes from soul to reggae to rock, and much more. Gotta love Ben.

Right he gets lumped in with John Mayer but the musical styles, aside from both being mellow, are totally different.

I like these songs as much as Brushfire Fairytales. I agree it's no departure from that "formula" if you want to call it that, but I like it anyway. Jack's lyrics seem very honest to me and his guitar style is pretty unique.

It is definitely a "summer" album. Very tropical feeling (he does hail from Hawaii after all)

Edit: Oh hell yeah much props to Ben Harper. He has been flying "under the radar" for so long now. His new CD is awesome.
