Hi everyone,

Just wanted to throw my problems out there and see if anyone has any ideas about what happened.

Yesterday I got my taisol hsf, duron 800, iwill kk266 (rev 1.2), and ibm 30gb 7200 and put everything together. Also i have 512mb of crucial pc133 cas2 and an additional ibm 14.4 gb 7200.

I started a very large copy of data from my old drive to my new one and went to bed last night. This morning I came in and everything was frozen. I noticed that my copying was interrupted right in the middle. I tried to power off & reset but neither worked...so I reset the system from the power supply. I checked inside and nothing seemed to be unusually hot - but then if anything was it probably had a lot of time to cool down. Now everything works, I just did another large copy and it spikes the processor pretty regularly, no problems.

I'm pretty sure I mounted my hsf correctly - i had like 5 redundant sets of directions in front of me when i did it...I have the "step up" on the bottom of the heatsink over the plastic part of the processor seat that says "Socket 470".

My two 7200rpm drives are sitting pretty close to each other, but I'd be very surprised if thse had heat problems. I've seen IBM drives take a lot of heat - well hard drives in general shouldn't have much of a problem even in bad case conditions.

Otherwise the only thing I can think of is there was some wacky bus thing happened with all the data going through that i don't understand.

Any help much appreciated

Regards,
Steve
